Ink Monday

From the visionary director Daniel Marcel Gaina (DMGaina) comes forth a revolution. A hybrid of both Comic art and Machinima. The birth of Ink Monday.

Inspired by the art of Metal Gear Solid, DMGaina decided to take forth an adventure that no member has even dared to venture upon. His hopes are high and wants to demonstrate this new medium through the means of a youtube video. His supporters and fellow fans are cheering him on as he completes and gives birth to a whole new revolution.

Novint Falcon support in GMod?

According to Garry's blog once Valve get round to updating their games so this is part of the Source engine he may be able to implement it into GMod. What is Novint Falcon? It's a force feedback controller doohickey, that's what.

Garry: From what I understand it’s going to be part of the Source Engine. So yeah. Once Valve updates their games with it, I’ll update GMod with it.

I don’t know how great it will be with GMod, whether you’ll be able to navigate the menus etc.. but I guess we’ll see. One of the things that interested me with the Falcon is the ability to ‘feel’ things. So maybe once the code is in I’ll bind it up to Lua and we can have some gamemodes based around it or something. Here’s an example.

Even More Epic Rube Goldbergs

These Rube Goldbergs where made for the old Rube Goldberg challenge, and have not been seen for a long time. They are very unique, because they use ent_fire to trigger the next events. Ent_fire is mostly a lost art, though there are still a few that practice it. They were made in Garry's Mod v9.0, before fancy lua addons made building a lot easier.

One thing to note is that absolutely zero thrusters were used.
The second one is much more complex, and much better, so I am putting it first.

In order to reduce lag, all ropes and pulleys were deleted. This would repeat again and again without any input from me. Only vanilla (standard) props and entities were used, though a ton of console hacking was put in to make it work.

This is the first one, which is quite simple. It was more of a prototype for the second.

Achievements

A new mod by rabidtoaster is the achievements mod. (Like in TF2)

<thumb http://garrysmod.org/img/dl/40453_1.jpg>

You need to do things to gain achievements, like killing 100 Combine npc´s, or being killed by props 50 times.
And there are achievements special for gamemodes, like zombie survival.

This is completely clientside and works on almost any server.
Updates are with SVN.
